Find New Kent Projected Release

A New Kent County projected release date depends on the person’s legal status and custodian. A pretrial detainee usually has no computed exit date because release turns on bond, court action, and any other holds. A sentenced person may have a date calculated by the regional jail or state corrections agency. Anyone asking “when will they be released” should treat that date as an estimate until final checks are complete. New Kent County cases can pass from the local court and regional jail into state custody, so the correct record source changes with that path.

New Kent Projected Versus Actual

A projected release date is a calculation based on the active sentence, credit, and information known at that point. An actual release date records the completed custody event. They are not interchangeable. A future date may move before release, and the final event may be community release, parole, discharge, or a transfer under another hold.

For a pretrial New Kent detainee at Pamunkey Regional Jail, there may be no set date. A judge may authorize bond or enter another order, but PRJ still checks paperwork and other commitments. For a sentenced local inmate, PRJ may calculate the local term. VADOC calculates qualifying state-responsible terms and performs final state checks.

Scheduled is not actual: The verified date is the completed event recorded after the custodian checks warrants, detainers, orders, and sentence data.

Find New Kent Release Dates

First identify whether PRJ or VADOC computes the sentence. The public VADOC locator does not promise a field formally named projected or tentative release date for every result, nor does it promise a fully discharged person will remain searchable. Quote any displayed date exactly.

  1. Use the court disposition to identify pretrial status, active sentence, and local or state responsibility.
  2. For a local term, call PRJ Records at 804-365-6400 extension 3033 and ask for the current calculation and credited days.
  3. For state responsibility, search the VADOC Inmate & Supervisee Locator by name or seven-digit DOC ID.
  4. Read the location and supervision fields before interpreting any date.
  5. Ask VADOC’s time-computation unit about conflicts or missing computation details.
  6. Confirm the final event with signed release documents or the responsible records office.

The New Kent County released inmates search explains how to continue when a person has already dropped from a current locator.

Virginia Credits Shape New Kent Dates

VADOC separates Good Conduct Allowance, called GCA, from Earned Sentence Credit, called ESC. GCA generally concerns felony offenses before January 1, 1995 and misdemeanor offenses before July 1, 2008. When qualifying active GCA terms total more than 12 months, VADOC calculates applicable parole eligibility, mandatory-parole release, and good-time dates. Classification can yield from zero through 30 days of allowance per 30 days served under Virginia Code §§ 53.1-198 through 53.1-202.

ESC generally applies to felonies committed on or after January 1, 1995. Under § 53.1-202.3, enumerated subsection A offenses may earn no more than 4.5 days per 30 served. Other eligible subsection B offenses use levels: 15 days at Level I, 7.5 at Level II, 3.5 at Level III, and zero at Level IV, subject to conduct and program rules.

VADOC describes relevant post-1995 truth-in-sentencing cases as requiring about 85 percent, but that phrase is not a universal calculator. Offense category, statutory exclusions, earning level, sentence structure, and later events matter. A family calculation cannot replace the official computation.

Why New Kent Dates Change

The calculation is a live administrative record. New sentence data or a change in credit can move it in either direction. A later court order can alter the legal term, while another agency’s hold can change what happens on the scheduled day.

FactorPossible effect
Presentence jail creditAdds qualifying time already served.
Concurrent or consecutive termsChanges how multiple sentences combine.
Earning-class changeChanges the rate of future credit.
Disciplinary eventMay reduce or remove earned credit.
Court amendmentCan alter the controlling active term.
Detainer or warrantMay cause transfer instead of community release.
Uncalculated casePrevents the current estimate from being final.
Parole actionAn eligibility date or grant begins another process; neither is physical release.

VADOC Operating Procedure 050.3 requires checks of VACORIS and hard-copy information, warrants, detainers, court orders, uncalculated sentences, and discipline before release.

Confirm New Kent Actual Release

For PRJ, obtain the custody-end date and time, release or transfer category, authority, and receiving agency if releasable. For VADOC, the strongest proof is the applicable signed Order of Release, Conditions of Probation, or Conditions of Parole. On release day, the forms are read, signed and dated by the person, witnessed by staff, and preserved in VACORIS.

A notification-of-release letter also supports the state event. Locator absence alone is weaker because the public tool focuses on people in current custody or supervision and does not promise a full-discharge archive. VADOC says a facility release is completed by 11:59 p.m. on the date, weather permitting. That state rule does not supply a promised morning time or apply to PRJ.

A New Kent VINELink inmate search can provide a timely alert, but its release-or-transfer wording still must be reconciled with the final custodian record.

New Kent Weekender Calculations

PRJ tracks Friday-through-Sunday “weekender” sentences and calculates credit served at other facilities. Those local tasks help Records place the person on the proper day and time. They do not establish a broad New Kent rule that all weekend or holiday releases occur early.

No official source supplied a routine PRJ release hour, public exit location, or general holiday adjustment. Call Records for the individual calculation. For a state term, use VADOC’s separate GCA or ESC method rather than importing the regional jail’s weekender practice.

Note: Local jail credit work and VADOC sentence computation are separate paths, even when both relate to a New Kent conviction.

New Kent Custodian Controls

A New Kent arrest does not determine which agency owns the final release date. The Sheriff handles arrest and transport but does not run a jail. PRJ holds local detainees and computes many local terms. VADOC may assume responsibility for a longer state sentence and may house the person anywhere in its system.

Pretrial
No fixed sentence-release date; court action, bond, and holds control.
Local sentence
PRJ or the local authority calculates active time and credit.
State sentence
VADOC applies the governing GCA or ESC rules.
Parole eligibility
A date on which consideration may occur, not a promised exit.
Detainer
A hold that can lead to another custodian instead of community release.

Choose the records office by this legal path. The wrong office may hold only one part of the record, such as the Sheriff’s arrest data or the court’s sentencing order.

New Kent VADOC Computation Source

The VADOC Time Computation page is the official explanation of the categories and variables behind a state projected date.

VADOC time computation source for a New Kent County projected release date

The interface supports the distinction between GCA and ESC. It does not justify promising an exact date without the person’s official computation.

For an incarcerated person’s computation concern, VADOC identifies its Correspondence Unit and Court & Legal Section at PO Box 26963, 6900 Atmore Drive, Richmond, VA 23261. General contact is 804-674-3000. Provide the seven-digit DOC ID and identify the disputed sentence, credit, or displayed date.

New Kent Parole Date Differences

A parole eligibility date marks when an eligible case may be considered. It does not state that release will occur. A Virginia Parole Board grant also does not prove that the person has physically left a facility. A release plan, required notices, and final VADOC processing still follow. The signed release forms record the completed event.

Virginia generally abolished discretionary parole for felonies committed on or after January 1, 1995 under § 53.1-165.1, but statutory exceptions remain detailed and date-sensitive. Do not infer eligibility from age, sentence length, or a broad statement about the offense year. Check the governing offense date, statutory exception, and official calculation.

Probation is different. It is court-imposed supervision that may follow confinement or replace part of it. A person can finish the active custody term yet still have probation obligations. District 34 in Williamsburg handles VADOC supervision for New Kent when that is the assigned district.

Resolve New Kent Date Conflicts

When a court order, locator date, family calculation, and agency message disagree, compare their labels and timestamps. The court order states the sentence. The computation record applies credits and sentence structure. A locator may lag. A VINE notice reports a custody event, while the release document records the finished process.

Ask the agency that owns the disputed field to correct or explain its record. PRJ Records handles a local calculation or custody-end entry. VADOC’s computation route handles a state sentence and earned credit. The New Kent court clerk handles the entered order. Supply the case number, inmate or DOC ID, booking date, disputed date, and the source document that supports the concern.

Do not average two dates or choose the earlier one. Keep the conflict explicit until the controlling custodian resolves it.

Document New Kent Release Calculations

Keep the source label with every date. A booking date records intake, a disposition date records court action, a projected date reflects a computation, and the actual date records the completed custody event. A parole eligibility date and supervision start date answer still different questions. Mixing those labels creates a false timeline.

For PRJ, ask for the booking record, credit calculation, custody history, release authority, actual custody-end time, and receiving agency if releasable. For VADOC, request the correctional-status record, notification-of-release letter, signed release order or conditions, and actual discharge category. Ask for electronic copies and redaction of exempt details rather than loss of the nonexempt date fields.

If a calculation changes, retain both versions with their observation dates. The newer official record may reflect court amendments, restored or lost credit, an uncalculated sentence, or a hold that was not present before. The change should be explained by the agency that owns the computation, not by guesswork.

New Kent Release-Day Checks

On the expected day, check the same custodian that calculated the term. PRJ should confirm a local custody-end time and any destination. VADOC should confirm the state event and applicable signed papers. A morning roster or locator observation cannot prove what will occur later that day.

Weather, transport, a late court order, an unresolved warrant, or a newly identified sentence can affect final processing. VADOC’s by-11:59-p.m. rule is a state-facility completion rule, not a promised hour for a New Kent detainee at PRJ. Keep those procedures separate.

If another authority takes custody, record the event as a transfer. The projected date may have been correct for the first custodian even though the person did not enter the community.

After the event, replace the estimate in working notes with the actual custody-end label and source. Keep both dates when the change matters. The projected value records the earlier calculation, while signed release papers or PRJ custody history show what finally occurred.
